A circular or fan-pattern medallion in stamped concrete is one of the most striking design choices you can make for a patio — and also one of the most committed. Unlike a repeating tile or flagstone pattern, a circle design has a visual center of gravity that organizes the entire space around it. Furniture placement, planting, and even the house's relationship to the patio all get pulled toward that center. When it works, it's exceptional. The circle usually occupies the main gathering area of the patio, with a contrasting border and then a field pattern extending to the edges. Color contrast between the circle and the surrounding surface is what makes the design readable — too similar and the pattern disappears, too contrasting and it feels busy.
